Gynecomastia – Liposuction and Other Surgical Treatment Options

What is gynecomastia?

Gynecomastiais a health condition which causes enlargement of the male breast cells. Though gynecomastia translates into”woman breast,” it is strictly a condition that only affects males. Oftentimes, the condition resolves on its own. However, for many others, gynecomastia liposuction and other forms of surgery are the only method to reduce the enlarged breast tissue.

Causes of Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia generally occurs during times of hormonal fluctuations, such as during infancy, puberty, and older age. The most frequent changes in hormones include an increase in estrogen or a decrease in testosterone. The condition can sometimes be associated with other diseases, such as testicular cancer, liver disease, tumors of specific glands, thyroid disorders, or breast cancer. Because of this, doctors often run a variety of tests before assessing patients with benign gynecomastia and recommending them for any type of gynecomastia liposuction or surgery.

Grades of Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia is frequently broken down to grades of classification, together with the most Frequent method as follows:

Grade I: Minimal growth in breast tissue with no extra skin.
Grade II: Moderate breast tissue enhancement with or without extra skin.
Grade III: Exceptional breast tissue augmentation with additional skin.
Gynecomastia Liposuction and Other Surgery Options

Whether or not a patient is a candidate for surgical treatment for gynecomastia depends on several factors, such as:

Overall Wellness
Age
Medical background
Extent of the condition
Tolerance to specific therapies, such as medications and procedures
Future prognosis/expectations
Patient taste.
Gynecomastia liposuction and/or other forms of surgery include the following:

Suction Lipectomy: This is a type of gynecomastia liposuction that provides the surgeon the ability to taper the edges of the breast tissues without any unpleasant side effects.
Endoscopic Surgery: A much less invasive procedure than open surgery, endoscopic surgery is performed by inserting a small, flexible tube with a light and a camera lens at the end (an endoscope) into the skin so the interior of the breast can be analyzed. Through this method of operation, the breast tissue may be removed without needing to make a large surgical incision.
Open Surgery: More severe cases of gynecomastia sometimes need an open surgical procedure. By means of this kind of surgery, a moderate incision is made in the breast tissue and the excess tissue and skin are removed.
